"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders"
- Dean Kamen, FIRST Founder
We are team 2914 from Woodrow Wilson High School, Washington, D.C. Founded in 2008, our team competes in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition. Since our founding, we have consistently remained active as a FIRST participant by following a simple motto: to learn, to innovate, and to have fun doing it.
To learn: Here in team 2914, we like to learn. During off-season, experienced team members hold workshops to share their knowledge with newcomers. When working on a project, seniors and freshmen are put together, no matter their experience, under the support of a mentor, to learn from eachother. Physics, Mechanics, Electronics, or even Neuroscience, our lab is a place of discussion and discovery
To innovate: The Mighty Tigers are ones to come out with ideas. Team 2914 welcomes and supports any project our team members can think of, whether it's personal or for the good of all. T-shirt cannon? Sure. Metal cast of the Iron Throne? - Why not? PCR Thermocycler? Yeah! The team will always actively supporting each student to follow through on their ideas, with both physical resources and guidance from our mentors.
To have fun! Team 2914 members are not just team mates, but also friends. We help eachother inside and outside of the team operating times, and bond and grow together when building robots, and during team get-togethers and Barbecues.
